Cannes Lions 2016 Round Up

The Cannes Lions 2016 Festival of Creativity has been and gone, but we couldn’t let it pass without a quick post updating you on the winners of this years’ awards.

Anyone who’s anyone in the world of advertising, marketing or tech knows about Cannes. It’s an eight-day festival that aims to be the central annual event for anyone creative.

This year saw strong campaigns from animators, both hand-drawn and digital, as well as more progress in our favourite area, augmented reality. For a full list of the winners you can take a look at the website: http://www.canneslionsarchive.com/winners/categories/cannes-lions

One of our favourites was Shoplifters for Harvey Nichols by adam&eveDDB, which gained the Grand Prix winner of film. It may be controversial, using real-life footage of shoplifters (with animated over-layed faces to hide their identities), but we think it’s brilliant! You can watch it here:

The other Grand Prix winner went to Droga5 New York for their simple but effective Rule Yourself Michael Phelps piece for Under Armour. It’s got some really great shots and a completely fitting soundtrack. Watch it here:
