Having attended the 20/21 International Art Fair in May a certain Vernissage caught my eye.
According to the official write up Vernissage was ‘established in 2000 as the first private organisation to recognise the wealth of talent in Poland and bring it to corporate and private collections in UK and beyond’.
Run by Izabella Kay, formerly as an art project, Vernissage is now a highly respected art consultancy representing and showcasing emerging and established international artists exhibiting at selected art fairs and venues.
Having met Izabella it is hard to fault what she is doing and the reasons behind her fervoured zeal in bringing the art and artists she finds to the world.
Educated in Poland she is now based in London, but is starting to entertain international acclaim.
Since 2000 she has sold to numerous international private collections. Her solo shows have been sold out since 2004, her work is shown annually at 20/21 International Art Fair at The Royal College of Art and since 2007 she part of the permanent collection at The Polish Cultural Institute, London, and in 2009 participated in “Creatives - Polish Roots” at The London Museum.
Her unique take on colour and space, constant fascination with texture as well as changing perception led her to launch a limited edition of digital works - IKADS (Izabella Kay Art Diffusion) and their dream-like translation on to fabric. From this the Foulart (art scarf) and the Artan (art kaftan) were born - her first fashion collection.
They are currently stocked & sold at Soho House, Miami and Wolf & Badger, London Mayfair.
